Create a Plot from a Running Job

A plot can be generated from a running job file. As the job progresses you can view the latest plot data of a running job.

While a job is running, the processing results files are maintained on the remote PAS server. You may visualise these files from the Running Folder. The plot result file is auto refreshed for the fixed interval of time if the job is in running state.

The default auto refresh time interval for plot is set to one minute. You can modify the auto refresh time interval for RVS in the Preferences panel.

  1. Click any of your running job from the Jobs page.

  2. Select any plot file from the running job folder to view auto refreshing plot data of the result file.
  3. Right-click the file and then click Open With > Plot TOC.

  4. The Table of Contents for a Plot page is displayed.


  5. Optional: Click Subcase and select the required load case.
    Note: Choosing the Subcase is optional. By default, the first entry in the subcase list is considered for a plot.
  6. Click Simulation to select simulation query.

  7. Select the following in the Simulation Query:
    • Select Filter
    • Select Start, End, and Step values.
    • Click Refresh link, to view the list of Time Steps.
    Note: Setting the Simulation Query is optional. By default, all the listed simulations in the Simulation Query is considered for a plot.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click located to the right of X-Axis.
  10. Choose the X-Axis parameters.
    Note: Time is chosen as the default value.
  11. Click located to the right of the Y-axis to select the parameters for the plot.
  12. Select the required parameters from the Result Type, Request and Component sections.

  13. Click OK.
    The selected variables for the X and Y axes of the plot displays on closing the selection dialog.
  14. Click Plot.
    The plot is generated and displayed. The images here shows that the running job is being refreshed and displays the latest plot result files.


    A message about refreshing the result file data is displayed.



    The plot is updated with the latest data.

    Note: The Back link takes you back to the Table of Contents for Plot screen where you can modify X and Y axis parameters for a plot.
