Bulk Data Entry This parameter is used to control frictional offset for
gaps and contact elements in linear and small displacement nonlinear analyses.

Description |
GAPOFFS |
<YES,
NO, AUTO> |
- YES
- Frictional offset for gaps and contact elements is
active in linear and small displacement nonlinear
analysis subcases.
- NO
- Frictional offset for gaps and contact elements is
inactive in linear and small displacement nonlinear
analysis subcases.
- AUTO (Default)
- For gap and N2S contact elements:
- Frictional offset is turned OFF when
the deck contains gaps, N2S contact with friction or
stick conditions and at least one nonlinear subcase.
This affects both linear and small displacement
nonlinear subcases.
- For S2S contact elements:
- Frictional offset is turned ON for
elements in linear analysis subcases (static, normal
modes, frequency response, and so on) and turned
OFF for elements in small
displacement nonlinear analysis.
For more details, refer to the PGAP and PCONT descriptions.

Comments
- This parameter is ignored for
contact elements in large displacement nonlinear analysis as frictional offset
is always taken into account in such cases.
