Indicates that each request in the file is contained on one and only one line.

Comments

If the target data file is declared as linear, it is assumed that each request in the file takes up one and only one line. This assumption vastly increases the speed with which Import can estimate the number of records in a file.

Assumptions can only be stated in the global block of the template.
