Menu Bar
The menu bar contains pull-down menus that provide access to standard functions such as New, Open, Save and Undo/Redo. This is also where you can access system preferences, and the help.
The menu bar is located directly under the title bar.
The menu options available vary depending on the product and user profile loaded.
File
The File menu enables you to create new files, open, save/save as, import, overlay,
load, run, export, print and publish files. You can also view up to five files from
recent sessions, and exit the application.

New | Load a new session, model, plot, media, document or table. | |
Open | Open a session, report, model, plot, media, document or table. | |
Save | Save a session, model, or document. | |
Save As | Saves current session, report, model or document under a new name. | |
Import | Imports a file into the current session without overwriting existing data. File types to import include sessions, models, solver decks, geometry, connectors, and markers. | |
Load | Loads results, user profiles, preference files, template files, or the Metadata Table. | |
Run | Allows you to run a Tcl/Tk script, command file, or an HWC file. | |
Export | Export the current file to another format. File types that can be exported include models, solver decks, geometry, connectors, curves, text and markers. | |
Print - Opens the Print dialog to set
printing specifications. Quick Print - Prints the current graphics area to the default printer. |

Publish | Publishes the current session to a reviewable format, including HTML or Microsoft PowerPoint file. | |
Recent Session | Lists sessions recently opened in HyperWorks Desktop. | |
Exit | Closes the program. |
Edit
View
The View menu contains options that allow you to manipulate the layout of the entire
window. Each option in the View menu can be enabled/disabled as desired.
Item | Description |
---|---|
Browsers | Display specific browsers based on the client that is currently active. For details on the specific browsers, see the appropriate User Guide for that client. |
Tcl Console | Opens the Tcl Console below the panel area. |
HWC Console | Opens the HWC Console below the panel area. |
Expand Window | Expands the selected window to full screen. |
Page | Scroll between next, previous and title pages. |
Panels | Turns the panel display on and off. |
Status Bar | Displays or hides the status bar at the bottom of the window. |
Tab Area | Manipulate the tab area to display on the left or right sides of the screen, or both, or neither. |
Toolbars | Select among the various toolbars to display. Options will change depending the active client. |

The Preferences menu provides access to settings. Options vary depending on the
active application.

The Applications menu allows you to open the following HyperWorks applications:
- BatchMesher
- HyperCrash
- HyperStudy
- Radioss
- OptiStruct
- HyperMath
- Tools - which opens a list of the following choices: HV Trans, HG Trans, HW GUI Toolkit, Model Identification Tool, Process Studio and HwLogViewer.

The Help menu allows you to access the online help for any HyperWorks product.
