Define Mass Flow Rate at Inlets
Use the Mass Flow Rate tool to define mass flow rate at an opening surface.
A boundary layer profile for velocity and turbulence fields is calculated based on the distance from no-slip walls and the estimated Reynolds number. In AcuSolve, the profile is recomputed at each time step such that the deforming meshes are properly accounted for in the calculation.
-
Select the surfaces on which to apply the boundary
condition in the following ways:
- While in the Flow ribbon, select surfaces, then right-click and select from the context menu.
- From the Flow ribbon, Boundaries tools, click the Mass Flow Rate tool.
Select surfaces.
-
In the dialog, input values for each tab.
- MomentumNote: Mass flow rate is now the defined parameter rather than average velocity.
- TemperatureNote: This tab only becomes available if the Heat Transfer option is turned on in the Flow ribbon Physics tool.
- Setting
- Momentum

From the guide bar, execute the command in the following
ways:
- Click to confirm your selection and remain
in the tool.
This allows you to continue creating instances and helps you visualize and edit instances with the legend.
