Create Channels

Create or import channels (load histories).

Add Time Data Loads

Time data loads are available for the Time Series loading type.
  1. From the Setup tools, click the Load Map tool.

    Figure 1.
    The Load Map dialog opens.
  2. Select Time Data from the Channel Type drop-down menu in the top-left of the dialog.
  3. In the Choose file field, click and browse for files.
Accepted file formats are: .rpc/.rsp, .csv, and .dac
  4. Click to add the load case(s).
  5. Optional: Edit the maximum and minimum values of the loads.
  6. Optional: Click to view a plot of the load.

Add Constant Amplitude Loads

Constant amplitude loads are available for the Time Series loading type.
  1. From the Setup tools, click the Load Map tool.

    Figure 3.
    The Load Map dialog opens.
  2. Select Constant Amplitude from the Channel Type drop-down menu in the top-left of the dialog.
  3. Click to add the load case.
  4. Optional: Edit the maximum and minimum values of the load.
  5. Optional: Click to view a plot of the load.

Add Block Loads

Create a block series of various amplitudes. Each block can have "n" number of cycles.

Block loads are available for the Time Series loading type.

  1. From the Setup tools, click the Load Map tool.

    Figure 5.
    The Load Map dialog opens.
  2. Select Block Loading from the Channel Type drop-down menu in the top-left of the dialog.
  3. Click .
    The Block Load dialog opens.
  4. Specify a name for the block load.
  5. Specify the number of blocks to create then .
  6. Edit the values for Max Amplitude, Min Amplitude, and Cycles.
Different blocks come together to make a block sequence, which is used for the damage calculation.
  7. Click Create.

Tip:
  • Use the and icons to import and export block load .csv files.
  • Select a block and click to delete it.
  • To exclude a block from the load, deactivate its checkbox.

Add Eigen Value/CMS Loads

There are two types of modal participation factor channels available: Eigen Value (via a pch file) and CMS (via an mrf file). Both are available for the Modal Superposition loading type.
  1. From the Setup tools, click the Load Map tool.

    Figure 7.
    The Load Map dialog opens.
  2. Select Eigen Value (pch) or CMS (mrf) from the Channel Type drop-down menu in the top-left of the dialog.
  3. In the Choose file field, click and browse for a *.pch/*.mrf file containing modal participation factors.
  4. Click to add the load case.

Add Input PSD Loads

There are two types of Input PSD channels available: Phase & Magnitude and Real & Imaginary. Both are available for the Random (Input PSD with FRF) loading type.
  1. From the Setup tools, click the Load Map tool.

    Figure 8.
    The Load Map dialog opens.
  2. Select Input PSD: Phase & Magnitude or Input PSD: Real & Imaginary from the Channel Type drop-down menu in the top-left of the dialog.
  3. In the Choose file field, click and browse for a *.csv file containing PSD vs frequency data.
  4. Click to add the load case.
  5. Optional: Click to view a plot of the loads.

    Figure 9.
Note: Any load channels that you import are specific to the channel type. If you switch the channel type, the channel window is cleared/updated.

Add Constant Loads

Constant loads are available for the Sine Sweep loading type.
  1. From the Setup tools, click the Load Map tool.

    Figure 10.
    The Load Map dialog opens.
  2. Select Constant Load from the Channel Type drop-down menu in the top-left of the dialog.
  3. Click to add the load case.
  4. Edit the scale value.
This value is used to apply a constant scale across all frequency response stresses.

Add Variable Scale Loads

Variable Scale loads are available for the Sine Sweep loading type.
  1. From the Setup tools, click the Load Map tool.

    Figure 11.
    The Load Map dialog opens.
  2. Select Variable Scale from the Channel Type drop-down menu in the top-left of the dialog.
  3. In the Choose file field, click and browse for a .csv file containing Frequency vs Scale data.
This data is used to apply variable scales across frequency response stresses.
  4. Click to add the load case.
