Divide Weld Lines

Each weld line in the model can be divided into two or more weld lines. There are two options that can be used to divide the weld lines - Divide and Divide Unconnected.

Divide

The Divide option is useful when you need to divide a continuous weld line into two or more pieces.

  1. From the Screen tools, click the Mark Weld tool.

    Figure 1.
    The Mark Weld dialog opens.
  2. Right-click on the weld line to be divided and select Divide from the context menu.
    A guide bar appears.
  3. From the modeling window, select the weld elements to be part of the new division.

    Tip:
    • Hold Ctrl while left-clicking to select multiple weld elements.
    • Click x to exit the context.
  4. Click .

The new weld line is created and added to the end of the weld line browser. The name of the new weld mimics the name of the original + "#DIV1".

Divide Unconnected

The Divide Unconnected option is useful when HL-WC detects disconnected weld lines connecting the same set of components and defines these weld lines as a single weld line. The Divide Unconnected operation can automatically detect all discontinuous weld lines and break them up into separate weld lines.

  1. From the Screen tools, click the Mark Weld tool.

    The Mark Weld dialog opens.
  2. Right-click on a weld line that contains multiple unconnected weld lines.

    Figure 5.
  3. Select Divide Unconnected from the context menu.
Each unconnected weld line segment is added to the end of the weld line browser as a new weld entity. The names of the new weld lines mimic the name of the original + "#DIV".
