Results Processing Tools in HyperMesh

The results post-processing workflow is now embedded in HyperMesh, and you can seamlessly process native results (*.xdb, *.op2) in HyperMesh. The File Loader is used to generate the new results entity.

Restriction: Only available in the Nastran and OptiStruct user profiles.

From the menu bar, click Aerospace > Results > File Loader.

The model file is required for the new results reader to get all of the relevant topology information for suitable data extraction when required, such as grid point force extraction or averaging operations that use the tool to understand what nodes are for which elements. The model file can also be the result file itself if topology information is stored in it.

There can be multiple result files, as shown in the image below.

Figure 1.

Once the result entity is generated, it can be seen in the Model Browser. Right-click and select Show Files to display the native files used as the source by the results entity.

To input the native result files that you want to process, use Load Combination File, which is optional. You can also generate new derived load cases in the form of Linear Super-Position or Envelope, with a metric definition in the case of envelope.

Once the result entity is created in HyperMesh, you can save it in the database. The entity will be stored as a pointer to that result file, and virtual results with derived load case definition, if any. Memory duplication of any of the results will not affect the HyperMesh database.
