Apply Remote Load

Apply distributed loads (tractions) to faces and/or spots that are statistically equivalent to a load applied on a single point.

  1. In the Project Tree, open the Analysis Workbench.
  2. In the workbench toolbar, click the (Remote load) icon.
  3. Specify which type of entity will have constraints applied.
  4. Optional: If applying to Spots, you can create new spots by clicking Create new spot.
  5. In the modeling window, click to select the Remote point.
The Units and Remote point coordinates fields will become active and automatically populate.
  6. Specify the coordinate system to which the force/displacement will be applied.
The default is set to the Global coordinate system, which is automatically created upon geometry import.
  7. Define Force and Moment units.
  8. Optional: If necessary, edit the Remote point X, Y, and Z coordinates.
  9. Specify the Force and/or Moment directional components in the X, Y, and Z coordinate fields.
  10. Specify either a follower force or a fixed direction force.
    1. Activate the Is follower load checkbox to specify a follower load.
    2. Leave the checkbox blank to specify a fixed direction force.
  11. Click OK.
