Create PSD Functions

Define power spectral density (PSD) vs frequency response.

PSD functions are referenced by dynamic loads.

  1. In the Project Tree, click on the Assembly branch to open the Assembly workbench.
  2. On the workbench toolbar, click the (Power Spectral Density function) icon.
  3. In the dialog, use one of the folling methods to define the PSD function:
    Method Process
    Import from CSV
    1. Click the Import CSV button.
    2. In the File explorer, browse to the desired CSV file and click Open.
    Create from standard template functions
    1. Click the Standard button.
    2. Select a template from the menu. Five options are available: triangle pulse, rectangular pulse, half-sine pulse, harmonics, and uniform.

The pulses are defined by 3 parameters, Amplitude, Start and Duration. An optional fourth parameter, Period, can be used to make the pulse repeat for the entire time history.

The Harmonics template defines a sine curve of a given Amplitude, Frequency and offset Phase.

The Uniform template defines a constant unit value flat line

    Create manually
    1. Click the Add row button.
    2. Enter values.
The results will be plotted in the XY graph in the dialog. You can use the scroll wheel to zoom in, the left mouse button to pan, or the Refit button to reset the graph.
