Check for Rigid Motions in Model

Check that the model is sufficiently constrained as to remove all rigid body motion.

Before running a statistic analysis, the model must be sufficiently constrained as to remove all rigid body motions. In general, an unconstrained body has 6 rigid motions – 3 translational and 3 rotational. Rigid motions can come either from the overall assembly or from movement of parts relative to one another.

  1. In the Project Tree, select an Analysis branch to open the Analysis Workbench.
  2. On the workbench toolbar, select the Check rigid motions icon.
SimSolid will check for any rigid motions and then visualize any that are found.
