Point and Node Creation and Editing

Point Creation and Editing

First let's take a look at creating free points. This is done using the Free Point panel. Remember, a free point is a zero-dimensional geometry entity in space that is not associated with a surface. The Free point panel is located at Geometry > Create > Free point and it allows you to create free points using a wide variety of methods. Click on the various subpanels below (icons at the top of the panel) to get a description of their function.

We can also create fixed points. Fixed points are zero-dimensional geometry entity that are associated with a surface. Anywhere a fixed point is located, the automesher will create a node. We can create fixed points using the add subpanel on the Pointspanel. The Points panel is located at Geometry > Create > Fixed point and it allows you to create fixed points using three different methods. Mouse over one of the three areas on the add subpanel below to get a description of their function.

Node Creation and Editing

Let's now take a look at how nodes are created and edited. Remember, a node represents a physical position on the structure being modeled and is used by an element entity to define the location and shape of that element. To create a node, we use the Node panel. The Node panel is located at Geometry > Create > Node and it allows you to create nodes using a wide variety of methods. Click on the various subpanels below to get a description of their function.

Once we have nodes created, we can edit the nodes using the Node Edit panel. The Node Edit panel is located at Geometry > Edit > Node and it allows you to edit nodes using a few different methods. Click on the various subpanels below to get a description of their function.
