Define Custom Material Database

Define custom material databases to duplicate material property definitions present in the CAD system.

1. Export a list of materials and their property values from the CAD system to a CSV or XLS file.
2. Edit this file to comply with the SimSolid bulk material property fields and save the edited file in CSV format.
3. In the menu bar, click Settings > Material database to open the Define material database dialog.
4. Click the Edit current button.
5. Click the Import CSV button and browse for your custom database file.
   Note: You only need to do this process once. With these properties now defined, material properties will be automatically applied during model import.
