Data Integration with SolidWorks

You can use SimSolid alongside SolidWorks and freely transfer data between softwares.

SimSolid Add-in

When SimSolid is installed, a SolidWorks add-in is placed in the MS Windows registry on your same machine.

Figure 1.

From the add-in, you can transfer data between the two different softwares on the same machine or different machines.

The integration incorporates the full hierarchical assembly structure. All part names and subassembly references are maintained. Part face topology data along with associated material properties (if defined) are passed directly to SimSolid. Since geometry simplification is not required, both applications share an identical view of the design, making it fast and easy to do structural performance simulation.

Supported Versions

As SimSolid is 64-bit only, 32-bit versions of SolidWorks are not supported. Also, while other versions may work, SolidWorks supports the last 3 annual versions only. See the SimSolid User Forum (www.simsolid.com/forum) for the latest news on SolidWorks version support.
